The Histon and Impington Neighbourhood Plan was made (adopted) on 20 May 2021 [PDF, 11MB].
The Histon and Impington Neighbourhood Plan as made now forms part of the development plan for South Cambridgeshire. All planning decisions in the neighbourhood area will need to comply with the development plan that now includes the Neighbourhood Plan, unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
Neighbourhood area designated
On 9 September 2014 the Planning Portfolio Holder designated the Histon and Impington neighbourhood area.

Strategic Environmental Assessment / Habitat Regulations Assessment screening
South Cambridgeshire District Council and Histon and Impington Parish Council have undertaken a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) screening of the draft Histon and Impington Neighbourhood Plan.

Pre-Submission consultation (Regulation 14)
Histon and Impington Parish Council carried out public consultation on the draft (A pre-submission) Histon and Impington Neighbourhood Plan from 1 October to 16 November 2018.
Submission public consultation (Regulation 16)
Histon and Impington Parish Council submitted the Histon and Impington Neighbourhood Plan and its supporting documents to South Cambridgeshire District Council on 3 June 2019.
A public consultation on the submission version of the Neighbourhood Plan was carried out between 19 June to 31 July 2019.

Examination (Regulation 17)
Histon and Impington Neighbourhood Plan was submitted for examination on the 2 August 2019. The independent examiner appointed to carry out the examination was Bob Yuille.
The final Examiner’s Report was received on 9 March 2020.

Referendum
The Director for Planning agreed to proceed to referendum in June 2020, and the referendum on the Histon and Impington Neighbourhood Plan took place on 6 May 2021.
The results of the referendum were:
- Yes votes: 2873 (90.74%)
- No votes: 293 (9.26%)
- Turnout: 51.24%
