Greater Cambridge Local Plan: Site Submissions Update 2025

The Greater Cambridge Local Plan Site Submissions Update closed on Friday 7 March 2025. If you wish to submit a new site or provide updated information about a previous site submission, please contact us at LocalPlan@greatercambridgeplanning.org. It should be noted that whilst we would endeavour to review any site information submitted ahead of the publication of the draft Local Plan, we cannot commit to reviewing new evidence now that the Site Submission Update has closed.

About the Call for Sites and Call for Green Sites

A call for sites is a way for landowners, developers and individuals to suggest sites that might be available for development in the future. It is a normal part of plan making.

Government planning guidance advises that, ‘if the process to identify land is to be transparent and identify as many potential opportunities as possible, it is important to issue a call for sites and broad locations for development’.

We need to ensure that the sites eventually allocated within the Plan are deliverable. This means, among other things, that the landowner is open to developing it within the required timescales

An initial Call for Sites was held in 2019 and we also held a Call for Sites as part of the First Conversation consultation in 2020.

Sites felt to be suitable were then considered for the First Proposals. Having reviewed all the sites, the First Proposals included 19 sites which are proposed to be allocated for development.

The First Proposals consultation in November and December 2021 allowed people to submit further site suggestions, or additional evidence on sites that were previously submitted. These have been added to the results below. This new site information will now be reviewed and the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA) will be updated.
