Greater Cambridge Local Plan Site Submission Update
We have recently updated our timetable in the lead up to consulting on our draft local plan in the autumn this year, we are providing an opportunity for people to update us about the site proposals they would like us to consider.
As part of preparing the plan we gave people, including landowners, developers and site promoters, the opportunity to submit land they want to be considered for future development. This is a normal part of plan making. To date, the Councils have received over 700 sites since the initial Call for Sites took place in 2019 and assessed over 1,000 sites in total.
Given the time since our last consultation, we are now providing a focused opportunity for promoters to submit new information on site suggestions we know about or new sites, to ensure we have the most up to date information going into the next stage of the plan process.
How to submit additional information
Given the previous multiple opportunities for respondents to submit sites through the Greater Cambridge Local Plan process, this Site Submission update will be a targeted 3 week process, closing on Friday 7 March 2025. New site submissions can be for various uses including housing (5 or more dwellings), economic development (more than 500sqm) and gypsy and traveller pitches and plots. On sites we already know about, we are seeking material updates such as alterations in the site extent or intended uses. We are not requesting confirmation that the site is still available for development or promoters to resubmit previously submitted documents.
The Councils have published a new dedicated site submission e-form and have notified landowners, developers and site promoters on our database.
Site submissions or updates submitted via email take a considerable amount of time to process and therefore we request that all site submissions or updates are submitted through the dedicated e-form. Not using the e-form may result in delays to the registering, processing and assessment of your site.
Your submissions should reach us by 5pm on Friday 7 March 2025.
Please note that the call for sites and subsequent site assessments processes do not confer any form of consent, indicate that planning permission will be granted or suggest that the sites are suitable for allocating in the Local Plan.
