A design code for North Cambridge neighbourhoods: Help shape the future of Arbury, King’s Hedges and West Chesterton
Project running from Friday 4 August to Sunday 3 December.
As part of a national Design Code Pathfinder Programme, Greater Cambridge Shared Planning (GCSP) and Cambridge City Council are intending to collaboratively produce a design code for parts of North Cambridge to help guide improvements over the coming years.
This is a pilot project focusing resources to work with communities and neighbourhoods with the most need, helping raise design standards and tackle inequality.
We would love to hear your views. The more information you provide, the better we can understand your needs and aspirations for your neighbourhood.
Take a look at our project online and get involved.
We shall be engaging with you both online and in-person over three phases
Phases
- Phase 1: Understanding your neighbourhood and establishing a vision (4 August - 24 September)
- Phase 2: Articulating the vision, emerging principles and code (2 October - 29 October)
- Phase 3: Testing, exhibition and presentation of the design code (6 November – 3 December)
Get involved in Phase 1 of the project by responding to the survey online (Open for comments from 4 August to 24 September) adding ideas to our interactive map on your needs and aspirations. Look out for the date for our collaborative workshop in early September 2023 at the Meadows Community Centre.
Volunteer with us
To help us develop the design code, we are looking for 10 to 20 volunteers that represent the rich variety and diverse communities within Arbury, King’s Hedges and West Chesterton. If you are a local resident or business and want to become an ambassador for your community, please sign up on the website.
